Congratulations to the Ladies Football team and Management who beat Athgarvan 5-03 to 3-07 in the league final on Saturday.

Moorefield secured their place in the league final with well-deserved win over Rheban on Saturday evening. The opening ten minutes were tough and tight and after ten minutes the teams were level with 0-02 points apiece. Dearbhail Kelly opened the scoring for the Moore’s in the 5th minute with a good point from play. Alison Shaw levelled the game two minutes later when the centre half forward pointed from play but Dearbhail Kelly had the Moore’s back in the lead when she converted a free in the 9th minute. Rheban replied instantly when Sinead Connors won possession from the kick out and made a great run to knock over a score. Emma Curley kicked an excellent point from play after a great ball from half back Ciara Conaty in the 13th minute followed by a good point from Dearbhail Kelly to put the Moore’s into a two point lead. The crucial score of the game came in the 16th minute when Emma Curley sent in a great ball to Fionnuala Kelly who beat Rheban goal-keeper Linda Byrne for a well taken goal. Dearbhail Kelly kicked her fourth point of the game in the 19th minute with another good point from play before Rheban replied with points from Alison Shaw, Sinead Connors and Tracy Perse to leave a half time score of 1-05 to 0-05 in favour of the Moore’s.

Aisling Murray opened the scoring in the second half for the Moore’s with an excellent point from play after good work from Shauna Doyle and Fionnuala Kelly. Sheena O’Brien made a great run from midfield to knock over a score to increase the Moore’s lead to 1-02. Moorefield were now dominating the game and Fionnuala Kelly and Dearbhail Kelly (2) added points before Ciara Mackey kicked Rheban’s only point of the second half. Dearbhail Kelly sealed the Moore’s win in the 29th minute when she scored a great goal to leave a final score of 2-10 to 0-06.
